The Who bringing final tour to Philly, Atlantic City

  • Arts and Entertainment

The Who survived the deaths of such iconic figures as drummer Keith Moon and bassist John Entwistle.

Guitarist-songwriter Pete Townshend hasn't always been on the same page as vocalist Roger Daltrey but the tandem agree that it's finally time for the iconic band to call it a day.

"The Song Is Over" tour, a nod to the classic ballad from 1971's "Who's Next," will stop at the Wells Fargo Center on Aug. 21, and then Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall on Aug. 23.

Tickets will be available starting with a Citi presale and through the Who Fan Club on Tuesday. Sales open to the general public on their site at 10 a.m. May 16.

Townshend, who has been reluctant to tour since the passing of Entwistle in 2002, finally gets his way putting the Who road show to rest.

"Well, all good things must come to an end," Townshend said during a press conference in London. "It is a poignant time. ... Roger and I are in a good place, despite our age, eager to throw our weight behind this fond farewell to all of our faithful fans, and hopefully to new ones who might jump in to see what they have been missing for the last 57 years."

The Who last played Boardwalk Hall in July of 2017, and delivered an incendiary 23-song set.
