After 22 years on the Preston & Steve show, Kathy Romano has left 93.3 WMMR and will not be replaced, according to a post by Romano on Instagram early this morning.
Romano originally joined the show in 2003 and moved with them to 93.3 WMMR in May 2005.
She shared the news on her social media, indicating that the departure was not her or Preston & Steve’s choice.
Romano wrote, “After 22 amazing years, my time with the Preston & Steve Show on 93.3
WMMR has come to an end. This is in no way my choice or Preston & Steve’s choice. We are devastated.”
Preston & Steve is a top-rated morning show in Philadelphia, airing from 6 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. every weekday. It includes hosts Preston Elliot and Steve Morrison, along with “Casey Boy” Fosbenner, Nick McIlwain, and Marissa Magnatta.
This announcement comes after a series of ongoing cuts from Beasley Media Group, which owns the 93.3 WMMR station. Beasley Media Group has faced challenges, similar to many radio businesses, due to decreasing ad revenues and the ongoing shift to digital platforms in recent years.
“It’s been the ride of a lifetime sharing mornings with the best team and the most incredible listeners. Thank you for welcoming me into your lives every day. This isn’t goodbye, just turning the dial to see what’s next,” Romano wrote on Instagram.
