ESPN's Peter Thamel reports that the Stanford football program will hire Frank Reich, the offensive coordinator for the Super Bowl LII Champion Philadelphia Eagles, as an interim head coach.

General manager Andrew Luck fired Stanford head coach Troy Taylor last week, following a report that Taylor mistreated female team staff members.

"After continued consideration it is evident to me that our program needs a reset," said Luck. "In consultation with university leadership I no longer believe that coach Taylor is the right coach to lead our football program."

Reich, 63, was an NFL quarterback for 14 years. He served as an assistant coach for several teams and as the offensive coordinator for the San Diego Chargers before joining the Eagles. After winning the Super Bowl with the Birds, Reich departed to take a head coach position with the Indianapolis Colts. He also led the Panthers as head coach for one season.

Thamel reports that Reich will coach Stanford for one season only, as Luck and his program conduct a search for a long-term replacement for Taylor.
