Fourth of July is a big deal around here and this year is no different. Don’t miss all the ways to celebrate the birth of our nation in the Philadelphia region this week.


From fireworks to live music and plenty of good eats and drinks, there are so many Fourth of July celebrations to choose from including the ones at Fonthill Castle, Graeme Park in Horsham, and the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philly.

 

For soccer lovers, YTP Sports in North Wales is starting its Summer Academy, a premier soccer training program, this week.


Looking to put a twist on your fitness routine this week? Then don’t miss a special Sweat & Sip with Arete Fitness at Evansburg Vineyards.


And for those who want to beat the heat, the Ambler Theater is showing the 1959 classic movie, Gidget.


July 4th in Philly


Starting with the Philadelphia’s Historic District’s Red, White, & Blue To-Do Pomp and Parade on Wednesday, July 2 until the fireworks celebrations on Friday, July 4, Philadelphia will be hopping as residents and visitors alike will be participating the city’s biggest celebration of the year.

Fourth of July at Fonthill Castle


On Friday, July 4, 12 p.m., Fonthill Castle in Doylestown is hosting its own special Independence Day celebration.

The afternoon will include food, games, crafts, entertainment and live music. Don’t miss the decorated children’s bike parade or the wheelbarrow and sack races.

Tickets are $7 for Adults, $5 for Youth between the ages of 6 and 17 years and $3 for children 5 and under.

‘Gidget’ at Ambler Theater


On Tuesday, July 1, 4:15 p.m., the Ambler Theater will be returning the 1959 hit Gidget to the screen.

See the movie that kicked of the “beach party” film genre of the ‘60s and spend time with Gidget, Moondoggie and the Big Kahuna.

Fireworks in Upper Darby Township


On Wednesday, July 2, 9 p.m., Upper Darby Township will be holding its Fourth of July Fireworks show at Monsignor Bonner/Archbishop Prendergast High School.

Don’t miss the spectacular display of lights and sound.

Fourth of July Fireworks in Abington


On Friday, July 4, 9 p.m., Abington Township will be celebrating Independence Day with its annual firework show.

The fun will take place at Abington Junior and Senior High Schools. Get there a little early to make sure you find a good spot to enjoy the show.

Fourth of July in Graeme Park


On Friday, July 4, 12 p.m., Horsham Township will honor the history of Independence Day with a performance of the Star Spangled Banner, a reading of the Declaration of Independence by colonial reenactors and period dance performances by the Tapestry Historic Dance Ensemble.

The afternoon will also include trivia, free ice cream and guided tours of the Keith House after the reading.
