A Delaware County man was arrested and has since been charged with assault after hitting another man with a baseball bat inside a Prospect Park gas station Tuesday night.
Prospect Park police told reporters that Brian Taylor, 35, of Prospect Park, was seen getting a baseball bat out of his trunk in the parking lot of the Marathon station on Chester Pike.
Surveillance footage showed Taylor then walked up to the store window, looked in, and walked inside. He went up to a man who was playing skill games, asked him, "Where's my money?"
And then Taylor began swinging his bat.
Police say Taylor was intoxicated and had no known connection to the victim. When the victim left the store, Taylor followed and chased him through the parking lot.
The victim was badly hurt, suffering cuts and bruises to his arms, back and ribs. The police later arrested Taylor at his home about 100 yards from the Marathon station.
Taylor has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, terroristic threats, reckless endangerment and institutional vandalism after police say he defecated in his jail cell.
He has since been released from the Delaware County jail after posting the $5,000 bond, and he is due back in court on July 21 for a preliminary hearing.
