A Darby man has been charged with a shooting Sunday in Chester, according to information published in the Delco Daily Times.

Dauwud Coles, 28, of the 400 block of Franklin Street, was charged with aggravated assault, recklessly endangering another person, carrying a firearm without a license and possession of an instrument of crime in connection with the shooting about 3 p.m. in the 900 block of Walnut Street.

According to Chester police, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to a leg and was taken to a hospital following the shooting.

Their investigation found multiple witnesses stating that shortly after Coles went into a home on that block a fight ensued. After the fight ended, witnesses told police Coles retrieved a firearm and shot the victim.

Coles is being held Delaware County prison with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Feb. 10 before District Judge Wilden H. Davis.
