Saquon Barkley's contract has turned into highway robbery for the Eagles, but the All-Pro running back has a chance to make himself some additional money Sunday.
If the Eagles defeat the Washington Commanders in Sunday's NFC Championship Game, Barkley will trigger a $250,000 incentive in his contract. He'll also set himself up to have a chance to earn another quarter of a million dollars in Super Bowl LIX:
An added bonus: Eagles RB Saquon Barkley has a $250,000 incentive for winning today’s conference championship game and then another $250,000 for the Super Bowl. He’s two wins from an additional $500,000. pic.twitter.com/pNoJfaZY2U
Barkley joined the Eagles in free agency on a three-year/$37.5 million deal this past offseason, a deal that guarantees him, fittingly, $26 million. He's already drastically outperformed that deal, and considering 2025 is the final guaranteed year of the pact, he would be well within his rights to ask the Eagles to redo the deal in the offseason.
In the meantime, Barkley has a chance to break Terrell Davis' single-season regular season/playoff rushing record Sunday against the Commanders. If he does that, the Eagles will likely advance to the Super Bowl, giving Barkley an additional $250,000 in his bank account.
