Saquon Barkley can break the single-season rushing record (postseason included) this week

Saquon Barkley may have come up short of Eric Dickerson's single-season regular-season rushing record, but has a chance to set a new regular-season+postseason record in Sunday's NFC Championship Game between the Eagles and Washington Commanders.

If Barkley rushes for 148 yards against the Commanders, he'll break the record set by Terrell Davis with the Denver Broncos in 1998:

In what will go down as one of the greatest seasons that a running back has ever had, Barkley has rushed for 150 or more yards in six games, including setting a franchise postseason record with 205 rushing yards in last week's Divisional Round win over the Los Angeles Rams

It should be noted that Barkley has put up monster rushing totals against the Commanders — who had one of the worst rush defenses in the NFL during the regular season — in two meetings this season. He rushed for 146 yards in Week 11's 26-18 win, and would be one yard shy of Davis' record if he matched that total this week. He ran for 150 yards in a Week 16 loss in Landover, the only game that the Eagles haven't won in their last 14 contests. A 150-yard rushing performance in the NFC Title Game would give Barkley the new record.

Davis set the record in 19 games in 1998, with the Broncos going 14-2 during the regular season, getting a first-round bye and winning Super Bowl XXXIII. Because Barkley was rested in Week 18, this will be his 19th game of the 2024 season.
