An inmate at the George W. Hill Correctional Facility is in stable condition after suffering a head injury, according to information reported in the Delco Daily Times.
The inmate was assaulted around 2 p.m. Wednesday afternoon and suffered injuries to his head that required a CT scan, officials reported.
County officials said the injured inmate’s wounds were mostly superficial and that he was alert and responsive. He declined to provide details about the incident or identity of his assailant, officials said.
The inmate was transported from the prison to an unidentified hospital via ambulance, where he received a CT scan and he has been listed in stable condition.
An investigation by the prison revealed two suspects, officials said. These two men were removed from their housing units and placed on an administrative segregation status, pending an investigation.
County officials said a full unit search is being conducted.
