Delaware County is forming a Budget Task Force to provide more engagement of residents in the budget process. Richard Womack, vice chairman of the County Council, is leading the effort.
This task force will consist of county employees and Delaware County residents. We are seeking Delaware County residents and county taxpayers, with or without specific budget expertise, to work together to provide recommendations and strategies to County Council.
The task force will consist of four subgroups focused on: Cost Containment, Revenue Enhancement, Capital Investments and Budget Presentation. The Task Force will meet regularly to review budget information, research opportunities, and identify best practices. The expectation is there will be a document produced with specific recommendations for Council, however as ideas are generated that are able to be implemented immediately, those recommendations will be presented to Council.
Delaware County must present a draft budget in the beginning of November and as such, we expect the task force to have recommendations to Council no later than August. Task Force members will be expected to attend meetings, ask questions and provide input. If you are not selected for the task force or if you have determined this schedule will not work for you, you can still submit your contact information, and we will have regular updates and other opportunities for feedback and input.
Applications are due by Friday, Feb. 7.
