Suspect accused of trying to collect ransom from estranged relative
State police have charged a Delco man and his girlfriend with extortion, claiming the couple faked the man’s kidnapping to collect ransom from his family.
Police arrested Richard Turek, 42, of Media and Angelina Arlotta, 19, of Riverton, N.J. Both are charged with felony theft by extortion, stalking terroristic threats, and harassment.
Police said an estranged family member of Turek reported receiving text messages claiming Turek had been kidnapped and demanding $6,000 ransom.
An investigation determined the messages had actually come from Turek and Arlotta, police said.
