Delaware County Council approved a Darby Creek Elevated Trail Project that will connect the Darby Creek trail in Upper Darby with Lansdowne Borough.
The half mile boardwalk would sit between the southern end of the Darby Creek trail at at Scottdale Road in Lansdowne.
The boardwalk would be built in phases along Darby Creek, with construction starting in about two years.
County Council approved a contract with NV5 to work on the engineering portion of the Darby Creek Elevated Trail Project, at a cost not to exceed $700,000.
Funding would come from $226,900 from the state Department of Community and Economic Development’s Greenways, Recreation and Trails grant, $250,000 from Community Development Block Grants, $100,000 from the American Rescue Plan Act, and $123,100 from the county’s capital improvement program.
