A fire, which began in a garage spread to two homes in Lower Salford Township Sunday, Feb. 9, during the first half of the Eagles' Super Bowl game.
According to dispatch, emergency units were called out around 7:15 p.m. to the 200 block of Shirley Drive, in Lower Salford Township, for a call of a building fire. Upon arrival, first responders said the garage was fully engulfed in flames and that there were propane tanks inside the garage. The garage was attached to a house in a row-home style of homes.
Due to the nature of the homes' attachment, both the units to the left and right caught fire in addition to the garage. The fire was upgraded to a three-alarm fire.
First responders from Harleysville Community Fire Company, Telford Fire Company, Perkiomen Township Fire Company, Perseverance Fire Company of Souderton, Hatfield Fire Company, Skippack Fire Company, Towamencin Fire Company, Upper Salford Fire Company, as well as EMS services from VMSC Lansdale, Freedom Valley Medical Rescue, among other units.
As of 7:45 p.m., the fire had spread from the garage to the attached house as well as a neighboring house in this row-home community. Crews called the fire under control within 40 minutes. No injuries had been reported at the time of publication, but the condition of any involved is unknown.
