A Philadelphia man was arrested in Upper Darby and charged with three counts of possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Upper Darby Police Officer Tiendat Vu, police were conducting a check at a business on the 600 blockk of Long Lane in Upper Darby and detected an odor of marijuana. The officer saw Fletcher, who was known from a previous arrest, according to the complaint.
According to the affidavit: “(T)he officer observed a black zip lock bag on his pants pocket and a black tote bag containing a large clear bag with green vegetable matter residue at the top. … Fletcher then became agitated and irate and began to walk away with the tote bag. At this time, Fletcher was advised he was being detained for further investigation. Fletcher began to tense up and refused verbal commands from the officer. The officer attempted to place handcuffs on Fletcher however he refused and resisted and attempted to get away.”
The complaint indicates that Fletcher continued to struggle and evade police and the altercation continued outside the store. During the struggle, Fletcher dropped an iPhone and a digital scale and threw away the tote bag.
Additional officers arrived and Fletcher was taken into custody.
A search of Fletcher’s person revealed a large clear bag containing a substance later confirmed to be marijuana, a medium bag containing empty plastic bags labeled “mushrooms,” a white powder later identified as cocaine and 68 Buprenorphine and Naloxone sublingual films.
