A Philadelphia man faces a felony shoplifting charge after Upper Darby police say he left a Family Dollar Store with a bag full of stolen goods.
Aquil Jamal Roberts was charged with one count of felony retail theft.
According to a criminal complaint filed by Upper Darby Police Officer Maura O’Connell, a man wearing a ski mask and carrying a large white bag was seen by a store employee leaving the Family Dollar Store on the 100 of S. 69th Street around 9:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 21.
Police detained Roberts outside the store and recovered the bag in a nearby alley, according to the complaint. The bag contained over $100 in merchandise, which was returned to the store.
Roberts was charged with retail theft, which was upgraded to a felony because he has two prior convictions for theft, according to the complaint.
Roberts is being held at the Delaware County jail after failing to post 10 percent of a $25,000 bond.
