The improvement project at Veterans Landing Park in Lansdowne will benefit from a $100,000 state grant, as well as a partial match of $50,000 from the borough.
The grant was provided by the Commonwealth Financing Authority and will be used to find phase 2 of the Veterans Park Project. The grant will cover landscaping, a gazebo, park benches, low lighting, and more for the new parking lot, according to a statement from the borough, with the local contribution be used to provide additional tables and chairs.
The Commonwealth Financing Authority (CFA) was established in 2004 as an independent agency of the Department of Community and Economic Development (DCED) to administer Pennsylvania’s economic stimulus packages. The CFA holds fiduciary responsibility over the funding of programs and investments in Pennsylvania’s economic growth.
Several other Delco government and nonprofit programs also received support through the most recent round of grants.
Villanova University’s College of Engineering, was awarded $64,482 to study the use of shrimp shell and eggshell waste for acid mine drainage treatment.
Lower Merion Township received $100,000 for the Righters Ferry to Pencoyd Landing Trail project.
The Penn Wynne Library Association received $100,000 for the Penn Wynne Library Community Reading Garden.
