Former Phillies' lefty Bailey Falter and his wife, Ky, revealed they are expecting a child. In the process, they poked some fun at themselves.
Evidently, the couple had done an entire Pittsburgh Pirates-themed photoshoot at PNC Park in anticipation of making this announcement. The only problem is before they had a chance to post it, Falter was traded to the Kansas City Royals last month.
Rather than do a new photoshoot, Ky and Bailey still used their Pirates-themed one, with the Instagram caption of "Some things are out of our control, this one isn’t 🍼👶🏼 Thanks for all the sweet memories Pittsburgh!"
Falter spent parts of three seasons with the Phillies to open his career, before being dealt to the Pirates on Aug. 1, 2023 for Rodolfo Castro. The struggling Pirates then traded Falter to the Royals before this year's trade deadline.
The 28-year-old struggled mightily in his first start for the Royals, allowing seven earned runs across 4 1/3 innings pitched. He'll get the chance to redeem himself Monday evening when he starts against the Washington Nationals. Prior to the trade, Falter had been pitching pretty well for the Buccos, with a 3.73 ERA over 22 outings.
No matter where Falter's career takes him moving forward, at least his future child will inherit a pretty sick Pirates jacket.
