Persons trying to steal a car in Marple Township instead found themselves under arrest after an overnight incident.

According to a release from the Marple Township Police Department, units were called out to Sunset Boulevard in the early morning hours of Monday, April 7 for the report of a suspicious person and possible stolen vehicle. Police said they were provided with descriptions of both a stolen vehicle and a vehicle that the actor(s) arrived in upon arrival to the scene.

Police said they "very quickly" located two vehicles meeting the provided descriptions on West Chester Pike. However, both vehicles, according to Marple Township Police, fled officers' pursuit.

While one vehicle evaded police in a chase, a second crashed during the evasion, police said. Though the driver attempted to run on-foot, police were able to apprehend the person.

At this time, there is no threat to the public, police said. An investigation is ongoing.
