Youth bring classic songs to stage

Young performers will be bringing winter wonder to the stage with song and dance tailored to capture the magic of the season.

Join the Upper Darby Summer Stage Shooting Stars as they bring holiday cheer with their annual “Holiday Spectacular,” a fun-filled performance showcasing talented students from 18 local high schools.

Performances will be held 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, and 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Monsignor Bonner and Archbishop Prendergast Catholic High School, 403 North Lansdowne Avenue, Drexel Hill.

“Holiday Spectacular” will be a 90-minute medley of Broadway-style songs set against a holiday wonderland, featuring favorites like “Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree,” “Carol of the Bells,” “Sparklejollytwinklejingley” from “Elf: The Musical,” and more.

The main show will be persuaded by a special pre-show performance by the Delaware County Flute Choir.

Upper Darby Summer Stage is a youth theater program that has been entertaining audiences while teaching middle school and high school students the performing arts since 1976. Students have the opportunity to shine both on stage as singers, dancers and actors, as well as pehind the scenes as sound and light technicians.
