Upper Darby Township Council will hold two public hearings at this week as the final step toward approving its $112 million proposed 2025 budget, just hours before the end of year deadline.
The hearings will be at 5 p.m. Dec. 30 and Dec. 31, during which the ordinance to approve the budget will e read and residents will have an opportunity to comment. The Council is scheduled to vote on the budget at 6 p.m. Dec. 31, directly after the second public hearing.
Council had initially passed its spending plan at its Nov. 20 meeting. However, the budget included a 1 percent Earned Income Tax, which a court later ruled could not be enacted on schedule because the judge ruled that Council had not followed procedure in passing the tax ordnance.
The council had a special session to revise the budget, keeping the spending the same and replacing the lost revenue with a transfer from the reserve fund.
The budget hearings will be in the 2nd Floor Meeting Room of the Municipal Building at 100 Garrett Road; Upper Darby.
