Springfield police are warning residents of a rash of thefts of vehicle parts in recent weeks.
Several vehicles had catalytic converters stolen sometime overnight Nov. 24 into Nov. 25, according to a statement from police this week. The thefts were in the areas Sunnybrook Road, Lynbrooke Road, Leamy Ave., and Pinecrest Road. The vehicles were Hondas, Hyundais, and Volkswagens, police said.
Converters contain three precious metalsm, palladium, rhodium, and platinum, and thefts of converters have been on the rise since 2021.
Police recommend parking your vehicle indoors or in a well-lit area when possible to deter thieves, as well as security measures such as a dashboard camera.
