Springfield residents will have an opportunity to offer comment on the township’s proposed 2025 budget at the Board of Commissioners meeting next week.
The meeting, set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, will include time for public comment concerning the township’s proposed $20.3 million budget, which would include a 3 percent increase in property tax rates for the average homeowner, the first such increase in three years.
As a result of the proposed increase in the millage rate, the typical household with a $175,400 property assessment will realize an increase of $23.50 to their real estate tax. An increase of $5.48 is also proposed for the refuse and recycling services.
About 24 percent of the budget would be allocated to police, 20 percent to public works and 22 percent to benefits and insurance, with the remaining 34 percent divided among smaller agencies.
The board is expected to adopt a budget at the end of the meeting.
