Warminster Food Bank, a nonprofit organization that serves people experiencing food insecurity in Bucks and Montgomery counties, received a generous donation matching offer from local philanthropists Gene and Marlene Epstein to help with the purchase of additional commercial refrigerators, freezer equipment and other necessities.

The Epsteins have offered to match, dollar–for-dollar, donations up to $10,000 through August 30. The purchase of additional commercial refrigerators and freezer equipment will allow the food bank to collect and store more perishable food items, such as fruits, vegetables and meats. This will help the food bank to better serve their guests with healthier choices, said a Warminster Food Bank press release.

Gene and Marlene Epstein are long-time Bucks County residents and decided to provide the match when they learned of the great work that Warminster Food Bank does.

“We spoke with Warminster Food Bank representatives and we were greatly impressed by the organization’s efficiency, the dedication of its large group of volunteers, and their unwavering efforts on behalf of the communities they serve,” said Gene Epstein. “We felt that providing a matching donation for the purchase of additional commercial refrigerators, freezers and other much needed items, was the best way to help the food bank to meet the ongoing needs of the people they serve.”

“We are so grateful to the Epsteins for their offer to match donations for this fundraising campaign,” said Mike Cerino, executive director, Warminster Food Bank. “The funds will allow us to purchase the additional equipment necessary to increase the number of fruits, vegetables and meats we can store and eventually distribute to our guests. Since food insecurity is an ongoing concern in our communities, having commercial refrigeration and freezers will help us to make lives better for our guests.”

The Warminster Food Bank is a 501c3 organization that provides food to people in need in the Bucks and Montgomery Counties. The Warminster Food Bank serves more than 15,000 people a year with food donated by individuals and businesses. Donations and volunteers are always welcome, said the release.
